Wellness Tips and Somatic Healing When Healthy Habits Fall Apart | EP210
If your healthy habits keep falling apart, your body may be asking for safety before it can ask for change.
On Wellness Junkies, host Amy Sherman talks with Lori Montry about why so many struggles that look like laziness or lack of discipline may actually point to a nervous system under strain. These wellness tips offer a kinder and more useful way to understand stress, shutdown, overthinking, and the hard reality of trying to change when your system has little capacity left.
Lori explains how somatic healing helps people stop treating themselves like the problem and start paying attention to what the body is asking for. She shares a practical framework for understanding energy, building steadier wellness routines, and noticing the habits and environments that drain you most. The result is a conversation full of wellness tips that feel realistic and easy to connect with.
This is for anyone who wants wellness hacks that go deeper than surface advice. It brings together relatable self care, thoughtful insight, and relatable wellness conversations that make change feel possible again. If you have been hard on yourself for not following through, these wellness tips may help you understand why and show you a better place to begin.

About Lori Montry:
Lori Montry is a somatic healing practitioner, author of You’re Not the Problem, and the creator of the Freedom Formula, a nervous system–based roadmap for sustainable behavior change. She helps people who feel stuck in stress, overwhelm, or self-sabotage understand the survival patterns driving their choices so they can build the safety, capacity, and clarity needed to take aligned action in every area of their lives.
Drawing on her Harvard Law background, Lori translates complex concepts like trauma, stress physiology, and nervous system science into practical, immediately usable tools. Her work is anchored in the belief that coping behaviors—emotional eating, overthinking, overachieving, people-pleasing—are not personal failures, but intelligent adaptations the body creates for protection.
Lori’s approach is grounded in lived experience. After decades of wrestling with anxiety, emotional eating, and the pressure to perform, she discovered that mindset work and willpower couldn’t shift what her nervous system was still holding. That journey led her to somatic and trauma-informed modalities and shaped the method she teaches today: identify the pattern, understand the need beneath it, and rebuild safety from the inside out.
